NAP Eligible Donations

Wabash Valley Habitat for Humanity received an $11,000 allocation in the state NAP (Neighborhood Assistance Program) distribution this year.  These are "credit dollars" that we can distribute to donors who qualify and file the appropriate paperwork, not actual funds we can spend.  They are an important incentive for donors to give generously since 50% of their $100 or more donation comes back to them in the form of a direct credit against their state income tax liability even if it results in a refund.

Quick NAP Facts:

  • NAP tax credits may only be applied against your Indiana income tax liability

  • The credit is against your total state income tax owed up to the amount of your tax liability;  it is not a deduction in your adjusted  gross.

  • Credits must be claimed for the taxable year of the contribution

  • Tax credits may be issued by the recipient organization up to the amount of its grant award

  • NAP tax credits are distributed on a first-come, first served basis
